The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Haryana, Gurugram has officially released the prospectus for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) Exam 2025-26. This scholarship exam is specially designed for students studying in Class 8 in government and government-aided schools across Haryana. The examination will be conducted by the Haryana Board of School Education (HBSE), Bhiwani.
The online application process for the NMMSS Exam 2025-26 will begin on 8 September 2025 and will remain open until 15 October 2025. Students and school principals must carefully fill out the application form online. Applications can be submitted only through the official websites – www.scertharyana.gov.in

The NMMSS Exam 2025-26 is scheduled to be held on 30 November 2025 at various exam centers across the state. The exam will take place from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Exam Pattern of NMMSS 2025-26
The written examination will consist of two parts, each carrying 90 marks and lasting 90 minutes. There will be no negative marking.
1. Mental Ability Test (MAT)
- Total Questions: 90 (1 mark each)
- Subjects: Reasoning, analysis, synthesis, and other mental ability-based questions
- Qualifying Marks: 36 (29 for SC, BC, and PwD candidates)
2. Scholastic Ability Test (SAT)
- Total Questions: 90 (1 mark each)
- Subjects: Science (35), Mathematics (20), Social Science (35)
- Qualifying Marks: 36 (29 for SC, BC, and PwD candidates)
The medium of examination will be Hindi and English.
NMMSS Exam 2025-26 Eligibility Criteria
- The student must be studying in Class 8 in a government or government-aided school of Haryana.
- The student should have passed Class 7 from a government or government-aided school with at least 55% marks.
- The annual income of the parents from all sources must not exceed ₹3,50,000.
- Students studying in private schools, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, KGBV, or any residential schools are not eligible.
- Each student can appear for this exam only once.
NMMSS Exam 2025-26 Reservation Policy
- As per the guidelines of the Government of Haryana, reservations will be provided in the following manner:
- SC (Haryana) – 20%
- BC-A (Haryana) – 16%
- BC-B (Haryana) – 11%
- Persons with Disabilities – 3%
- Remaining seats – General/Unreserved
NMMSS Exam 2025-26 Result and Scholarship
The result will be prepared based on the OMR sheet evaluation. There will be no provision for re-evaluation. The list of selected candidates will be sent to all schools through the District Education Officer’s office and will also be available on the SCERT Haryana website.
Students who qualify will not automatically receive the scholarship. They must apply separately on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) at scholarships.gov.in when it opens in June/July 2026. Submission of valid income and caste certificates (where applicable) is mandatory to avail the scholarship benefits.

NMMSS Scholarship Amount 2025-26
The National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) 2025-26 offers a valuable financial benefit to meritorious Class 8 students from government and government-aided schools in Haryana. Under this scheme, each selected student will receive a scholarship of ₹12,000 per year (₹1,000 per month) to support their education from Class 9 onwards.
